-Description

Audemars Piguet was founded by Jules-Louis Audemars and Edouard-Auguste Piguet in Le Brassus in the Vallée de Joux. Since its founding in 1875, it is the oldest watch brand that has been consistently managed by the founding family.

The company has been producing complication watches such as perpetual calendar wacthes, chronographs and sonnerie watches since its inception, and together with Vacheron Constantin and Patek Philippe is known as one of the world's three major brands or 'Big Three'.

This watch is a hand-wound round watch made in the 1970s. An extremely thin case made of 18K white gold, sometimes referred to as extra flat. It features a flat bezel and curved lugs when viewed from the side.

The case diameter is 33.5mm. Because the bezel is narrow, it doesn't look as small as the numbers indicate, and it feels like a very good size when you actually wear it.

The bezel is polished, but the sides have a hairline finish. The case back has a concentric satin finish and is engraved with an 18K gold hallmark and serial number.

The dial is a navy blue dial with a sunray finish. This dial is unusual for a watch of this age. It shows no significant ageing and retains its original blue hue. The colour shade changes depending on the angle of view, which is also a major attraction.

The hands and indexes are a very simple and highly legible combination of thin bar indexes and baton hands in the case. They are made of the same 18K white gold as the case.

The brand logo is written in a cute block font, rather than the bold font of the current model. This is also a unique feature of vintage.

The movement is equipped with hand-wound Cal.K2001/1A. The base is Jaeger-LeCoultre caliber 818, developed in 1959 and supplied exclusively to Vacheron Constantin and Audemars Piguet.

It was adjusted and tuned by both companies and used by Audemars Piguet as Cal.K2001/1A and Vacheron Constantin as Cal.K1014.
