-Description

The Datejust, Rolex's most famous automatic watch, was born in 1945.

It is widely known as a watch that anyone can recognize at a glance from its distinctive appearance.

The Datejust mechanism, which instantly changes the date at midnight, is considered one of Rolex's three greatest inventions, along with the Oyster case and the self-winding Perpetual mechanism, and the Datejust is the culmination of all these features.

Ref.6605 is a vintage model produced for a very short period from the mid to late 1950s.

It is the predecessor model of Ref.1601, and its main feature is the finely-notched fluted bezel made of white gold.

The case size is 36mm, the same as other Datejust watches.

The dial is a sunray-finished silver dial with great patina.

It has a very nice discoloration with a shade between brown and orange.

The wedge-shaped index and alpha hands are also very Rolex-like from the 50s.

The luminous paint also has some chipping, but it is not noticeable.

The bracelet is a folded jubilee bracelet 6251H. You can see the age-related drooping.

The buckle is a "Small Logo Clasp", a rare buckle with a small ROLEX engraving on the middle plate.

The clasp code is 1957 I period, which almost matches the production year of the watch.

The movement is self-winding Cal.1066.

This movement is characterized by bi-directional winding, which was revolutionary at the time, and a butterfly rotor with a hole in the center to increase the rotational efficiency of the rotor.

This movement is famous for being used in this Datejust Ref.6605 and the first model of GMT Master Ref.6542.

It has passed a 5 ATM water resistance test, and is in very good condition for a vintage watch.

*Although it has passed the waterproof test, please note that damage due to flooding is not covered by our warranty.
