-Description

The official name of SINN is Sinn Spezialuhren (Sinn Special Watch Company). The company was founded in 1961 by Helmut Sinn, a German military pilot and flight instructor, who began making pilot's watches under his own name.

The company has been making watches based on the three principles of 'making the best watches at the lowest possible cost', "providing the best functionality and legibility with high quality" and "offering something of value through direct marketing without resorting to extensive advertising", and boasts strong popularity as a brand known by those in the know to this day.

There was a time when it was actually delivered to the German Air Force, and in the 1990s it was also used in space shuttle missions. Even today, the diver model is actually used by GSG 9 (German Anti-Terrorism Special Forces) and fire and rescue units.

The 103 is a Sinn icon, a practical chronograph with a simple dial that boasts excellent visibility and timekeeping accuracy. It can be said to be a model that truly represents the basic spirit of Sinn.

The bi-directional rotating black-coloured bezel follows the tradition of the Model 155, which was the official chronograph of the German Air Force in the 1960s.

Equipped with the minimum necessary specifications such as a stainless steel case, screw-in crown, and screw-in case back, the reinforced acrylic crystal does not require time-consuming crystal replacement and can be easily scratched with polish. This spec was specified because it can always be used in actual combat.

The 103.A we are introducing this time is a very rare 103 manufactured from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. What's unusual is that there is only a date display on the dial and that it is a manual-winding model.

Most 103.A and 103.B watches from the 1990s onwards are equipped with automatic movement. They are powered by a Valjoux 7750 (ETA 7750) and have both date and day displays on the dial.

However, this 103.A is equipped with a manual-winding Valjoux 7760, and only displays the date. The 103 equipped with this movement was only manufactured for a limited time, making it a rarity.

The dial is a combination of a black dial with white sub-dials. This design is called a reverse panda. The luminous paint on the dial and hands are both tritium.
