-Description

Vacheron Constantin is a watch brand founded in 1755 in Geneva, Switzerland. It is said to be the oldest watch brand in the world, which has continued uninterrupted since its founding.

Reference 4217 is a very long-lived model manufactured from the 1940s to the 1970s. This is a Calatrava design dress watch with sturdy lugs, which is unusual for Vacheron.

The case is made of 18K white gold. Reference 4217 is most commonly available in yellow gold and pink gold, and steel is also very rare. White gold is even rarer like platinum, rarely seen.

The dial is a silver dial with a sunray finish. It is characterized by a design that pays homage to the Maltese cross, with only the top, bottom, left and right indexes being thicker.

Reference 4217 has a variety of combinations of dials and hands, but most have thin baton hands, and thick alpha hands like this one are extremely unique.

The main attraction of this watch is that it doesn't look like a Vacheron in a good way.

The overall condition of the watch is very good, and although there are signs of having been lightly polished in the past, it is only lightly, and no thinning can be felt.

The finish on the case remains solid, especially the hairline finish on the sides. When viewed from the front, it looks stiff, but when viewed from the side, the curved rug, also known as a claw foot rug in Japan, adds a nice touch.

The movement is Cal. K454/5B, a very large movement that is tightly packed into the case. It is a hand-wound centre-seconds movement based on Jaeger-LeCoultre Cal.453.

It comes with an 18K WG buckle made by AW, who supplied buckles to VC, PP and AP and genuine VC box.
